Troubleshooting

When sync does not behave as expected, preserve the logs first. Logs are the fastest way for maintainers to understand whether the problem is account access, vault connection, network reachability, storage limits, or sync reconciliation.

Preserve logs before changing settings

  1. Open Settings -> DraftMesh.
  2. Find Sync logs.
  3. Select View.
  4. Select the copy button in the Sync logs window.
  5. Paste the logs into the DraftMesh Discord support channel with a short description of what happened.

Avoid clearing logs until the issue is resolved. The Sync logs window also has a refresh button if you need to capture the latest output.

What to include in Discord

Include:

  • what you expected to happen
  • what actually happened
  • the device and operating system
  • whether this is the first sync or an existing vault
  • whether other devices are connected to the same vault
  • the copied Sync logs output
  • screenshots of Sync progress if it shows an error

Do not paste private note contents, vault passwords, account passwords, or email verification codes.

Common issues

Cannot register or log in

Check:

  • Sync server includes https:// or http://.
  • The server is reachable from your device.
  • Your email and password are typed correctly.
  • If registration is waiting for verification, use the latest 6-digit code from email.

If login still fails, copy Sync logs and share them in Discord.

Vault list does not load

This usually means the account session expired or the server cannot be reached.

Try:

  1. Select Logout.
  2. Log in again.
  3. Reopen Vaults.

If the list still does not load, preserve and share logs.

Connect fails

Check:

  • You selected the correct vault.
  • The vault password is correct.
  • Your account still has access to the vault.
  • The server URL is the same one used when the vault was created.

If you recently changed account or subscription status, refresh the subscription plan in settings and try again.

Sync is interrupted

Select the DraftMesh status bar indicator to open Sync progress. The modal may show a direct error message.

Then:

  1. Keep Obsidian open for a few minutes in case the network recovers.
  2. Confirm the device is online.
  3. Confirm the sync server is reachable.
  4. Open Sync logs and copy the logs.
  5. Share the logs and the Sync progress error in Discord.

Attachments are not syncing

Attachment sync is not available on the free tier. Open Settings -> DraftMesh and check Subscription plan.

If your plan includes attachment sync:

  1. Check Sync Scope.
  2. Make sure Attachments is enabled.
  3. Keep Obsidian open until Sync progress settles.
  4. Copy logs if attachments still do not appear on another device.

Markdown file history is unavailable

Markdown file history requires a paid tier and sync must be running. Check:

  • Subscription plan is active.
  • Sync status is on.
  • A vault is connected.

Storage limit errors

If your vault exceeds the plan storage limit, sync may stop. Open Vaults to review the storage summary, then remove unnecessary synced files or upgrade your plan.

Log file location

DraftMesh writes plugin logs to plugin.log inside the plugin directory for the current Obsidian vault. The in-app Sync logs viewer is the preferred way to copy them because it flushes recent log output before reading.

Built for Obsidian users who want private, dependable sync.
